Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
