Vinted Users Share Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20β22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
